Uncle Sams Taxes Scam

Yes, the joy of taxes is something we all look forward to! NOT. Even though it's been dogmatically stated that the IRS is an illegal institution charging us all an unfair injustice, we still put up with it. Why? 'Cuz We don't want to go to jail.

They're smart though (IRS). They have it planned out so that they always get their government owed money. They pay themselves first! Which is what you should do everytime you get your paycheck.

A few tips that I have learned:

1. Get a good accountant, ask around and find out all you can about them. Test them, interview them and ask them questions. Make sure you get a straight answer, do some research about certain things that pertain to your financial situation and then ask the accountant questions.

2. Keep track of things you buy. Keep receipts and invoices and all that good stuff. You don't know if you will need them. And keep them in order. Accountants hate shoe box organizing.

3. Make out a spreadsheet if needed of expenses. If you own a rental house(s) or a business, keep everything organized and together specifically for the rental or biz. You might also want to check out 1031 exchanges.

4. Learn as much as you can about what can be written off and what can't and why. Scour the net for possible red flags for IRS audits. Write-offs!. You may be getting back only pennies to the dollar but every little bit back counts.

5. You can if you want, but I wouldn't recommend doing taxes yourself. You can very easily miss something that could help you out tremendously. Better safe than sorry.

6. Get everything in early! Don't wait until the last minute to get them done.
